The Great Burger Hunt

The first project for Gastro-World will be a hunt for great burgers. In the course of The Great Burger Hunt we will be exploring history, regional differences, and the many different kinds of burgers and what makes them good or bad at different times and hopefully having some sort of over-analyzed philosophical discussion of what makes a burger a burger.

So, welcome to Gastro-World.

I think the first step in establishing what good burgers are is to acknowledge the fact that we have all been known to have the industrialized fast-food version and that we cannot ignore the fact that it has an impact on what we think of when we think of a hamburger.

To begin a quest for the great burger we can all share our feelings about the common fast food variety and in so doing perhaps discover some insights.

First up will be the big chains--and I am sure that everyone will surely have an opinion on these factories of fat.

Good hunting folks.

It's made of people

I started this new spot because I realized I didn't have a food blog and after reading countless articles on "The 20 Best Tacos in Texas" and "The Best Brisket Within 15 Feet of My Garage" or "The Eleven Enchiladas You Must Eat Before Next Christmas" and "31 Burgers That Might Not Kill You" I thought it was time to pick up the food gauntlet and extend a chance to others to write about food experiences. Taste is, after all, a subjective thing, so maybe having more voices and a panel wouldn't be such a bad thing.
And maybe I'm tired of reading reviews of food that are all about wine lists and never reading about how a certain taco goes very well with a 1982 vintage can of Big Red.
